Dreams and Intuition — A Portal to the Unconscious Mind

On Premonitory Dreams - Episode 55 - Soul Synergy Experience Podcast

There is a quote by Joseph Campbell that says:

“We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.”

Dreams so often reveal what we do not want to let go of: our fears, emotions we have been denying or suppressing, and images that metaphorically represent those emotions. Dreams are whispers of the soul, warning signs, and a compass directing us toward our soul's calling.

In my practice as a hypnotist, I have worked many times with clients who come with recurring dreams that leave them feeling anxious, depleted, and terrified. I guide them to re-enter the dream, and through different techniques we discover new pathways that promote comfort and peace, explore dialogues with dream characters, and identify the true meaning behind the dreams.

On the path of guiding my clients to awaken their intuition, I often invite them to keep a dream journal as a daily practice. If they don't remember their dreams, I have several recommendations, including telling their subconscious mind before sleep that they will remember their dreams and taking notes as soon as they wake up. As we become more willing to pay attention to the signs our souls—and life itself—want to communicate, we begin to feel guided. Suddenly, we are no longer living fragmented lives or feeling separate from the whole, but instead experience a deeper sense of unity with it.

Here is a quote from the Soul Synergy Oracle Deck that reminds me of this path, in which we become more in tune with what life is asking of us and honor every single moment as a sacred encounter that can teach us, guide us, and heal us.

“Do not underestimate how creation speaks to you, for creation is present in all things. Listen to every bird that sings at your window, for they too are messengers of creation. The more you welcome whispers of the divine from all directions, the clearer the path that is meant for you becomes.”

In the modern world, with the rise of technology, we are more connected on the surface, but often more distant from nature and from each other.

As Thich Nhat Hanh said:

“When you touch one thing with deep awareness, you touch everything.”

So often we relate to our dreams as if they were separate from us, and we live our waking lives as if we were distant from our own soul—its calling and its deepest fears. Then we wonder why there is frustration, stagnation, and a sense of emptiness that simply doesn't go away.

To honor our dreams is to honor ourselves and our eternal nature, including the hidden aspects of ourselves that we try to control or manipulate. Freedom is the ability to integrate who we are on a soul level into our physical reality.

If you are in the process of awakening your intuition, working with oracle cards can also be powerful because the unconscious mind speaks through images. Before going to sleep, you can pull a card and ask your unconscious mind for clarification on that theme. You may discover what your relationship with that theme truly is and where you are in relation to it.

I recently recorded an episode on dreams and intuition for my podcast, Soul Synergy Experience, where I share a premonition dream I had and explore how dreams can guide us through endings, life transitions, and the unfolding of our soul's path.
